Meet Angus Hincksman

Angus Hincksman has never allowed expectations to define what is possible. Born with a brain injury and later classified as a T38 athlete with cerebral palsy, Angus experienced seizures throughout childhood and faced early uncertainty about whether he would walk. But sport was always part of his vision for the future. After dreaming of becoming a footballer or cricketer, Angus discovered athletics through school cross-country at nine years old. He quickly found his strength in middle-distance running, progressing through Little Athletics and Southern Athletics Club while setting national para records across the 800m, 1500m and 5000m. At just 16, Angus was selected to represent Australia at the 2023 World Para Athletics Championships in Paris, where he won bronze in the T38 1500m on his international debut. He later returned to Paris for his first Paralympic Games, narrowly missing the podium with an incredible fourth-place finish. Now, Angus begins an exciting new chapter as a member of the Dylan Alcott Foundation Nike Academy. Surrounded by a community of emerging athletes with disability, he’ll continue developing both on and off the track while working towards even bigger goals. Angus’s journey is already remarkable and he’s only getting started.
